Rayburn Technical Details
Please note that the site preparations need to be completed before the fitting can take place. You can prepare for your stove installation by reading these Rayburn technical details.
Flue: The existing chimney needs to be lined with a 5" liner. The prefabricated internal and external flue has to be insulated to 5" (SM). The flue can exit vertically or horizontally from the Rayburn stove.
Rayburn supreme model has the flue box on the right-hand side, other types of Rayburn will have the box on either side. We strongly advise that a vedette cowl is put into your existing chimney.
Electric Supply: For the RAYBURN SUPREME only a 240 volt supply at three amps is required.
Ventilation: A fixed air vent with an area of at least 5" squared or the cross-sectional area of the flue, whichever one is higher must be provided.
Fuel: Rayburn oil feed pipe fitting must be at least 10mm in diameter. The oil feed control system is found on the opposite side of the flue up to 5 feet away, and it roughly measures 5". The fuel supply has to be ready to be switched on. New safety regulations (BS5410) stipulate that the fire safety valves (i.e. KKB) must be sited remotely to protect the oil supply lines, where the line enters the building and the sensor next to the Rayburn.
Hot Water & Central Heating: All Rayburns with a facility for hot water must be connected to a gravity flow system indirectly and to a 40-gallon water tank. Central heating models when fully pumped still need a pipe in case of pump failure. We suggest you have up to 8 radiators if you have a Rayburn Supreme with its average output of 40,000 b.t.u. This can be controlled by timing with the central heating pump.
The water pipes exit from the opposite side from the flue. Ideally, the hot water tank should not be more than 18 ft away to retain full efficiency. The pipe is 28 mm, all other dimensions are mentioned in the applications. Note that all of the models can be used to supply all domestic hot water needs.
Plinth: All models need to be placed carefully on to a non-combustible base or plinth. The measurements of the Rayburn supreme depth is 23", it's width is 35", the Rayburn royal has a depth of 20" and a width of 33" with the height being optional.
